NANTES AND QUÉBEC : FAR APART YET SO MUCH IN COMMON
Sparks are flying between Nantes and Québec ! Since 2016, collaborations between the two areas have continued to multiply in the cultural, economic and academic fields.

As Johanna Rolland, Mayor of Nantes, puts it, in Nantes as in Montreal, importance is attached to creativity, gender equality, diversity, the fight against inequalities, sustainable development, the smart city, nature in the city, as well as the capacity to dare and to innovate.
DIGITAL COLLABORATIONS...
A recognized world leader in artificial intelligence, Montreal attracts researchers from around the world and digital companies at the forefront of innovation. In 2019, the two cities signed a data charter for the benefit of their communities. Like Montreal, Nantes’ head start in digital is well-established : it is the French city with the most jobs created in the sector.
... AND COLLABORATIONS IN CREATIVITY AND CULTURE
Considered a world leader in video games, visual effects and animation, Montreal stands out for the expertise and creativity of its inhabitants.
This opportunity has not gone unnoticed in Nantes, where local talents have seized the chance for creative collaboration and exchanges, such as :
• The establishment of a branch in Montreal for the Ecole de Design Nantes Atlantique and the graphic design school Pivaut.
• The signing of an agreement between the two structures of the "Partnership of the Quartier des spectacles" and SAMOA on the Ile de Nantes
COLLABORATING COMPANIES
• Obeo, A publisher of free modeling software in Nantes, that set up a short-term international placement in Montreal in 2016 to consolidate its links with the Canadian Space Agency, before setting up a subsidiary in Vancouver.
• Transway, publisher of smart solutions for public transport and alternative urban journeys, whose collaborations can be seen in Montreal and Sherbrooke.
• Osedea, specializing in app and website development, this 9 year old company from Montreal crossed the Atlantic to settle in Nantes in 2019 (photo).
• Sensopia MagicPlan, also a Montréal native company, are currently working in the proptech industry from Nantes
• Dilitrust operates from Nantes and Montreal in the protection of sensitive company data
• Odiwi, a digital services company that has opened a branch in Montreal
• BlackMeal, the motion design studio from Nantes opened a studio in Montreal in 2019
EVENTS TO TAKE US FURTHER, TOGETHER
• Atlangames, Nantes’ video game cluster, which takes part in MIGS in Montréal every year
• La Cantine, Nantes’ digital cluster, participes each year in Web@Québec (April) as part of the partnership with Nantes-native Web2Day (June), which in turn is visited by Montrealease delegations.
• Hosting of delegations at Printemps Numérique / MTL Connect (May) and Nantes Digital Week (September)
