Extraordinary creativity that benefits everyone
Bold creativity inspired by the universe of Jules Verne
In Nantes Saint-Nazaire, the spirit of Jules Verne is everywhere. Since the Royal de Luxe theatre company was formed in the 1990s, bold creativity has inspired the creations of the Machines de l’Île, including the Great Elephant and the Marine Worlds Carrousel facing the Loire River.
Creative Arts District
Right in the heart of city, the Ile de Nantes revitalization project is the embodiment of this creative renaissance, led by internationally renowned architects tasked with breathing new life into the district. And they have succeeded! In the past ten years, economic activity has returned in force to the Ile de Nantes, with creatives and start-ups moving into the former Alstom shipyard halls.
In this 15-hectare former industrial site, a creative and intelligent city is taking shape. As the embodiment of urban regeneration and economic development, this area attracts professionals in the creative and cultural industries and the digital tech sector. The former Alstom Halls (4,000 m2) are being redeveloped and will be dedicated to start-ups (in an incubator or a business park) and established businesses working in the creative arts.
Increasingly creative industries
And this creative image of Nantes Saint-Nazaire is a magnet. In the metro area, the number of major figures in the creative industries grew by 15% in the last five years. Each year, the Creative Factory call for projects selects the most promising companies in the cultural and creative industries. It's no wonder that Nantes is the only French city that is part of the European Creative Industries Alliance (ECIA).
